Mijas Pueblo

The beautiful little village of Mijas Pueblo is reputed to be the most visited, “Pueblo Blanco”, in Spain and it easy to understand why as you wander through the narrow cobbled streets of this truly typical and authentic Andalusian village which nestles on the mountainside above the coastal resort of Fuengirola and has fantastic views across the Bay of Malaga. A high proportion of the 8000 residents are English speaking to such an extent that the Pueblo of Mijas has provided a helpful Foreigner's Department, which is a boon for the many who do not speak Spanish.


Many have been attracted to settle in Mijas Pueblo over the years not least because of the towns excellent all year round climate, but from a business point of view, the masses of tourists bused in daily in a never ending stream offer terrific commercial possibilities with the obvious outlets being bars, cafés and restaurants though artisans and artists can earn an excellent income with a high proportion of the day tourists being American and Japanese who offer high spending potential. Despite its popularity with tourists, Mijas Pueblo has managed to retain much of its traditional Spanish way of life and the locals delight in any opportunity for a Fiesta.


The village is a Mecca for souvenir and craft shops with good leather and shoe shops and superb hand made pottery outlets plus very affordable paintings by excellent local artists offering a lasting visual memento of a beautiful location.
